Legislation Introduced To Allow Federal Government To Recall Defective Firearms

Representative Debbie Dingell (MI-12) has introduced legislation that would allow the Consumer Product Safety Commission to issue safety warnings or order recalls of defective guns. Currently, no government agency has the power to do so.

This is another positive step in safety for gun owners. One that was inspired by the groundbreaking settlement of Carter vs Forjas Taurus SA. Taurus agreed to fix, replace or repair almost 1 million handguns to settle a class-action lawsuit alleging defects. The settlement agreement covers a nationwide class of gun owners and is valued at more than $30 million.
